A 19th Century Chinese export chinoiserie lacquerwork tea caddy of rectangular form with a hinged lid, finely decorated in gilt with figural court scenes. It is covererd in very finely detailed penwork to all sides. The interior of the lid has wing decoration, with a plain internal fitted with an engraved pewter canister. In good overall condition, with minor cracking to the right top corner of the lid (see last photo), but amazing condition for a practical piece with this age.
