A lovely, original late 1940s plaster figure of Mickey Mouse made by Leonardi, the UK licensee for Walt Disney figures during that time. The figure is taken from an adaptation of Jack and the Beanstalk, called rather imaginatively 'Mickey and the Beanstalk' which was released in 1947.  At first glance it was believed to be from the 1938 animation, 'The Brave Little Tailor', but although the outfit is identical, the colourway used seems to suggest the later production.

Giuseppe Leonardi acquired the license from Disney, and started producing the figures in the 1940s and into the 1950s.  Based in North London, he produced a range of pieces including Donald Duck, Snow White, Thumper and Dumbo, and these are among some of the earliest plaster/chalk/ceramic Disney collectibles produced. The final image shows a catalogue page from the company.

Mickey has some obvious signs of age with some minor paint losses, but is the best example of this figure that we can find. Stamped on the base with W/30 (see photo). A chance to own a nice early piece of Mickey history in good condition.

Measures: 20cm tall x 15cm wide x 9cm deep
