School of Music Reverse Painted Glass Sign

A unique reverse painted glass sign in original frame, for Miss F.H. Laycock's School of Music, which would have been mounted outside her teaching school.  In original wood frame, dating from circa 1930.

Miss Laycock was a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music, and a member of the Independent Society of Musicians, which was established in 1882 as the United Kingdom's society for the representation and support of professional musicians. Alongside representation, the desire was to encourage 'the higher culture of music and the furtherance of its' recognition as an important educational and social influence'.

The sign has a muted brown/deep red colour, with the clear font outlined in black with gold leaf filler - in good original condition with signs of age and use.

Measures: 51cm wide x 38cm tall x 2.5cm deep
