Penelope Chairs by Charles Pollock for Castelli

A fabulous pair of iconic Penelope tube frame dining chairs, designed by Charles Pollock for Castelli circa 1982. The chairs are constructed from a tubular chromed frame, with a black lacquered metal mesh shell seat and padded arm rests. These are the original, first series of this design icon, and they are still produced to this day by Castelli at a price of 1,450 EUR EACH! They do have some minor signs of age and use but this does not detract in any way from the stylish, functional and timeless beauty of the set. The chairs are stackable, although why anyone would not want them on display at all times is beyond us :) Beautiful chairs and unusual to find the 1st series.
