The Tyl Theatre Prague, Architectural Bookends
A highly detailed, hand made model of the 18th Century Tyl Theatre in Prague by Timothy Richards. We have a single piece display model of the Tyl Theatre (see other listing), but this is a two part model. These were produced in relatively small numbers and presented as book ends, but serve equally well as a decorative piece on a bookshelf, a table or a mantel. Amazing attention to detail, this is one of a small collection we recently acquired - others to follow.
The Tyl Theatre is also known as Mozart's Theatre, as the first performances of Figaro (1786), Don Giovanni (1789) and La Clamenza di Tito (1791) were performed there. The theatre has remained virtually unchanged since the composers' time, and is a much loved symbol to the citizens of Prague. The model has some minor signs of age and use, but still in very good condition.
