This one is a stunner. Caistor arm chair by Lincolnshire furniture designer and maker, John Shadford (1843-1889), as illustrated in his workshop notebook (see image). Made of Ash with an Elm seat, it still shows traces of its original red lead stain. Beautiful hand crafted piece, well over 100 years of age and still as solid as the day it was made. Fabulous wear on the seat and arms show it has been used and loved. Featured in The English Regional Chair by Bernard D Cotton. Wow factor overload.
