Rare Tacchini South Beach chair in black (RAL9005 to be precise!) designed by Christophe Pillet, and dating from circa 2006. A real statement piece, the Tacchini web site describes the seat thus:
'As fascinating as a throne and as protective as a cradle, a seat that combines the concepts of strength and softness in a single piece of furniture. The sleek structure, made from solid beech strips, surrounds and supports the seat and the headrest in birch plywood with fabric upholstery. An important piece, destined to grab attention in whatever space it is placed, whether in the home or in the community.'
The chair has its orginal upholstery but there has been some minor overpainting of the beech strips in its life (probably due to some sections getting scratched when moved), and would benefit from the strips being re-lacquered. However, as this seat retails for over £4000 in mint condition, this piece is a steal.
