Rare vintage didactic plaster model of the human eye by SOMSO of Germany - dating from the 1950s. Mounted on a green wooden base - with the suppliers name 'N.V. Breukhoven & Co' on a sticker. Similar in style to the MV4 model produced today by Somso and sold in partnership with Adam Rouilly. The model shows the eye 5 times enlarged, resting in the lower bones of the orbit. It separates into 7 parts, including the original glass lens. N.V. Breukhoven & Co is believed to have been a reseller of the Somso models from the 1930s onwards. The model shows signs of age and use, with some minor chips to the plaster, but it doesn't detract from the look of this piece. A variation of this model continues to be produced to this day, but all of the parts are plastic.
