Unique mixed media on lino art piece, produced for Harvey Nichols & Co Ltd in the late 1960s. A label on the back reads 'Harvey Nichols & Co Ltd, Depository, Bournemouth' along with a stamped name (Pam Lion Properties). We have been unable to identify the artist, but we know that Pam Lion Properties was established in Bournemouth in 1964. We believe that this was most likely hired for staging, or possibly an art piece that was used in a promotional campaign by Harvey Nichols, and subsequently sold to Pam Lion Properties once the campaign was complete. The subject is possibly Ranjit Singh, the founder of the Sikh Empire, on his horse 'Lailli', but we are unable to say for sure. The lino is mounted on board.
