Large midcentury Meredew teak sideboard. To the left are 4 drawers (the top one is baize lined and fitted for cutlery), and to the right is a drinks cabinet with fold up door, and contrasting interior. The double cupboard in the centre has an adjustable shelf. Excellent quality manufacture in original condition with recessed and articulated stainless steel handles. Meredew was founded in the late 19th Century in Islington, but really put themselves on the map in the post-war years after appointing Alphons Loebenstein as staff designer. From 1950 to 1965 the company increased turnover 40 times and employed upto 1500 people. Midcentury Modern at its very best.
