Medical Advertising Poster

1 item left

Unique Belgian medical poster advertising (using Google translate) 'Perfect cure of breast diseases by Martin Toms' breast balm and electric resin salve', dated 1892. This is a period piece, further confirmed by the fact that historically Dutch speaking Brussels saw a shift to the French language in the late 19th Century. Martin Toms was a Pharmacist and Specialist Inventor with a pharmacy at 104 Wetstraat, Rue de la Loi, which is very close to the centre of Brussels and right in the middle of the current Embassy district. This would suggest that Martin Toms was indeed a pharmacist of some notoriety in his time. It would appear that the original poster was slightly larger than what we see here, with the left edge having been cut. Mounted on board - clearly has signs of age but a rare, and maybe ONLY, survivor.
