Leon Boucher Urn

1 item left

Body section of an antique French neoclassical gilt bronze urn, signed by famous French architect Leon Boucher. The vase depicts the mythological figures of Bellerophon on one side, and Mercury riding Pegasus on the other, both in bas relief.  The design also includes ornate cartouches and reeded handles. This is a very well known design, which when complete would have originally been mounted on a rouge marble base. It is unfortunately missing the marble base (which could quite easily be reinstated), but more importantly it is missing the pedestal part of the urn (see photo 6 for a reference to see how it would look in a complete form). It is a very decorative piece, and even without the base parts of the urn, is a very collectible item - completed urns sell for thousands. In excellent condition, and a rare find. Part of a small collection of 4 similar urns recently discovered in a garage (see photo 5). Price is for this urn only.
