Pair of midcentury John Sylvia Reid Rotaflex lamp shades. One in yellow and the other in orange. These lamp shades are part of the 'Christals' range of lamps and shades produced by Rotaflex/Heifitz in the late 1950s. Made of a cellulose acetate (plastic) sprinkled by thousands of tiny lucite beads with a very unusual and dramatic effect when illuminated. Rotaflex was a British lighting company who manufactured, in particular, John & Sylvia Reid’s designs. Rotaflex was started by Bernard Stern around 1953 and also produced spun acetate lamps, sometime after the mid 50’s John & Sylvia Reid were employed and added new designs as some of the earlier designs became dated and were phased out. In great original condition.
