Early 20th century portable Jockey Scales manufactured by The Fairbank Co, Birmingham, England. Chesterfield leather upholstered seat and backrest mounted on a wooden base. The chassis and mechanism is produced from cast iron with brass plates to place the weights (full set of which are included). Designed to weigh upto 3 CWT (approx 150kg / 360lbs). The jockey would sit on the seat holding all his riding equipment, including the saddle, prior to the race and again afterwards to ensure that there was no underhandedness going on.
