Heavy vintage bronze alloy crest from HMS Wizard. This was most likely salvaged from the last HMS Wizard, which was launched in 1943 and saw service in World War 2 before finally being scrapped in 1967. The Royal Navy has named 6 ships HMS Wizard, with the first 5 launched in the 19th Century, starting in 1805 with a brig-sloop and the 5th (a Conflict-class destroyer) launched in 1895. The final HMS Wizard was a W-class destroyer, which was later converted to a Type-15 frigate, and saw service initially in the Home Fleet, before sustaining damage and being recommissioned and deployed to the Pacific Fleet in 1945, and was present in Tokyo Bay when the surrender was signed in September of that year. The plaque still has some signs of the original paint, but much of it has been lost. Dimensions below do not include the hanging bracket that has been attached to the rear.
