Rare and very cute antique Scottish folk art shoe brush holder and brush in the form of a Terrier. Dating from the early 20th Century, the dog is carved in a very naive manner, with the brush handle acting as the tongue of the dog. The dog has been ebonised which gives it a wonderful patina after many years of use. The tongue is originally red, but where the tip of the tongue has been handled over the years it has worn away the colour to show the original wood.
