Midcentury chalkware figure of an elephant with a rider (Mahoot). The elephant has his trunk up, which is commonly believed to bring good luck to the owner. In Asian culture it is also suggested that the elephant should face the door to protect the home and allow only good fortune to pass through. This piece has a few very minor marks which have been touched up over the years, but it is complete and in a great colour. The elephant seems very happy.
