Large antique two tone salt glazed stoneware flagon for Cave & Co of Broad Street, Southampton - the proprietor of the establishment was A. Goodwin. We have been unable to find any information about this company, but assume that it would have been a brewery or seller of drinks (possibly ginger beer), as many of this type of flagon were supplied for this purpose. This flagon dates from the mid 19th Century and was produced by Price of Bristol. Charles Price formed the company of Price & Read in 1799, but went solo around 1820 and was operating throughout the 19th Century before merging with Powell in 1906. Has the original screw top lid, and the tap hole has the remnants of a cork in it. In excellent original condition with no chips or cracks.
