Vintage scratch built model of the Bournemouth Queen Paddle Steamer based on plans produced by Richard Webb of Model Boat Plans Service of Hemel Hempstead. Built in the 3rd quarter of the 20th Century by the previous owners' uncle. Amazing attention to detail, with articulated paddles and other parts. Needs some minor rigging repairs, but otherwise in perfect condition. Original plans included.
The Bournemouth Queen Paddle Steamer was launched in 1908 for the Southampton, Isle of Wight and South of England Royal Mail Steam Packet Co and placed on the Bournemouth to Swanage service. She saw service as a coastal support vessel in both World Wars . In the late 1940s she became a ferry before being decommissioned in 1957.
