Do you own a boot store, or have an interest in collecting / wearing kinky boots? If so, then this could be just the sign for you! .... antique ironstone and ceramic street sign salvaged from Boot Street in Burnley in the early 1960s. The sign was originally installed in the late 19th Century, but the area underwent a major transformation in the 1960s and a number of buildings were demolished and street signs removed. See in the photos an article dated January 1979, about a Mr Kay (a local amateur historic photographer) who salvaged this and another sign at the time. The black text is nice and bold, set on a lovely crackled glaze. Very small nibble on the bottom right corner of this sign, most probably occurred when the sign was being removed, but in no way detracts from this unique piece. Why not embellish your shoe cupboard?!
