Bakelite GPO 248L Rotary Dial Telephone

An original and rare 1950s GPO 248L rotary dial bakelite 'two extension' telephone.  These phones were originally used in businesses to connect to the exchange or two separate extension lines internally.  The phone has a switch mechanism on the front (see photos) for connecting to the various lines, but this unit has been converted for use on the current UK system. The phone has a drawer in the front that includes the piece of card with the original exchange numbers and the address of the original owner of the phone (in Bodmin, Cornwall).
