Rare pair of vintage rubberoid Native American masks, dating from the 1950s/60s. Believed to originate from the Nuxalk First Nation tribe of Bella Coola, British Columbia, Canada. These were used to decorate a fairground or sideshow stall and each represents a different ceremonial being. Amazing modelling, and beautifully hand painted. Each mask shows signs of age, including some paint loss and cracks, but rare survivors.
Monkey mask measures: 42cm tall x 34cm wide x 12cm deep
Jester mask measures: 42cm tall x 28cm wide x 9cm deep
