Stunning antique silver plated trinket box, with enamelled panels depicting butterflies and abstract decoration in subtle blues and pinks. Dating from the early 20th Century, the box is made of wood with a partition inside and surrounded with delicately engraved silver plated brass panels to all sides, and a silver plated base. An enamelled frieze runs around the sides of the box with abstract Art Nouveau decorations. The silver plated lid is hinged and also delicately engraved around the large central enamel panel which is dominated by an Art Nouveau inspired butterfly. In loved condition, it is very much in the style of the Art Nouveau movement that was popular in the early 1900s, and it has an ethereal quality not found in items produced in more modern times. A perfect trinket box to adorn the most discerning of dressing tables.
